"Roar of the City" - an exhibition of Italian artist Matteo Boato in Nizhny Novgorod

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. The Italian painter Matteo Boato personally presented his painting at the exhibition “The Roar of the City”, which opened on December 5th. The exposition was located in the exhibition hall of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. This exhibition was the Italian artist’s look at the sights of the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The paintings presented at the exhibition, the painter created from nature. He wrote them in May of this year, choosing the places most interesting related to the history of the city. The artist said that he did not search in advance for information about the historical monuments of Nizhny Novgorod, but chose the most colorful of them, inspiring to create paintings.

Now, visitors to the exhibition will see paintings with images of the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin, the Christmas Church, the Upper Volga Embankment, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street. In his speech at the presentation, Matteo Boato expressed his admiration for the beauty of Nizhny Novgorod. The artist was struck by how naturally the old monuments of architecture and new buildings are combined, the old city with its new part, erected relatively recently.

Attending the opening of the exhibition, Natalia Pankova, an artist representing the Russian Art Foundation, noted the unusual color of the paintings created by the Italian master. In his landscapes, he preferred brown, orange and yellow colors, using their warm shades.

Although Matteo Boato has no art education, he has been painting for more than ten years. His works regularly participate in exhibitions around the world, they are acquired by museums for their collections. In Russia, the work of the Italian master met only this year. This is the first collection of works by Matteo Boato, available to Russian connoisseurs of painting.
