Excursions to the restoration workshop of the Irkutsk Art Museum

IRKUTSK. Two groups of schoolchildren of the education center No. 47 of Irkutsk went on an excursion to the restoration workshop of the Irkutsk Regional Art Museum named after V.P. Sukachev. The workshop manager Svetlana Tyutikova told the children in detail about all the stages of the restoration of paintings, about the materials and tools that restorers use in their work. The students were shown how to use the professional equipment to see the old and the new painting layer on the canvases, how the painting is tinted at the places of loss, and they also learned about the composition of the fish glue that is indispensable in the process of restoration.

“When you come to the hospital, you get a card on you. Here also: a picture arrived, and a card appears, which indicates the time of receipt, condition, former owner. And what “treatment” is required - resuscitation, hospital or maintenance therapy, ”Svetlana Tyutikova told schoolchildren. The children not only carefully listened and took pictures of what was happening, but also asked questions: how long this or that process lasts, how to become a restorer, what kind of education you need to get, and whether painting talent is important for this work.

Excursions to the restoration workshop - a new service of the museum. They are possible only by appointment by organized groups. The composition of the group is no more than 15 people. In the event that a large group is recruited, it is divided into two parts - while one is looking at the museum, the other is going to restoration and vice versa. The cost of such an excursion is 200 rubles, regardless of the age of the visitors.
