Ulyanovsk celebrated the birthday of People’s Artist of the USSR Arkady Plastov

Ulyanovsk. Arkady Plastov, USSR people’s artist, has long been absent from admirers of his talent. However, on his birthday, traditionally gathered at a monument located in the center of Ulyanovsk, not only those who knew the artist personally, but also representatives of the young generation of art lovers.

The traditional rally held at the monument to Arkady Plastov was opened by Sergey Zhdanov, director of the Ulyanovsk Museum of Art. He noted in his greeting to the rally participants that the events taking place in the Ulyanovsk Territory in honor of his famous countryman help preserve the traditions of Russian culture, combine ancient Simbirsk with modern Ulyanovsk.

Sharpudin Khautiev, Minister of Culture of the region, said that the Ulyanovsk Territory was glorified by many of the great people known in the cultural world. In Russian painting, Arkady Plastov became such a great man. Nikolai Chernov, chairman of the regional branch of the Union of Artists, turned to contemporary artists, noting the importance of studying the works of Arkady Plastov to comprehend real art.

Present at the rally, Boris Sklyaruk, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, spoke about the artist’s relationship with the inhabitants of his native Prislonikh, many of which are present in the paintings of the painter. He also recalled his meeting with Arkady Plastov.

In the afternoon, an exhibition opened in the region’s scientific library, the exposition of which presented the best works of artists participating this summer in the open air “Ulyanovsk - the birthplace of talents”. The organizers of the exhibition gave most of the space in the exhibition to novice artists, placing 70 works by future masters.

In the museum-estate of A. Plastov, the painter’s birthday was also celebrated by an exhibition and a concert.
