"Meetings and Fates" - an exhibition in memory of Victor Sorokin in the House of the Master

LIPETSK. On July 27, an exhibition dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the national artist of the Russian Federation was presented at the House of the Master, an art museum named after Victor Sorokin. The exposition created by the museum staff is called “Meetings and Fates”. This exhibition was not an ordinary collection of works by the artist, in honor of the anniversary placed in a single space.

Admirers of the talent of Viktor Sorokin will see in it a narrative about the path of the artist, who combined his life and work in teaching. For about 9 years, starting in 1948, Viktor Semyonovich taught painting at the art school of the city of Yelets. His pedagogical activity was based on an individual approach to each of the students.

Victor Sorokin possessed the ability to invest in his pupils a particle of his talent, thereby transferring to them the tradition of painting, which has a high artistic level. During the work of the Master in an art school, his students became the best painters among their fellow students.

In his memoirs, Vilen Dvoryanchikov, the founder of the House of Masters and his first director, emphasizes that the work of Viktor Semenovich became a source of inspiration for students. The students of the Master understood the inaccessibility of his work, but the level of painting by Victor Sorokin did not suppress novice artists. The master’s works only indicated the level of mastery to which one should strive.

The main part of the exposition is devoted to the creativity of his students. In fact, “Meetings and Fates”, combining more than 30 works of the Master’s students, presents the public with his artistic heritage. It is only embodied in the works of the followers of the great artist. All of them are famous painters.
