In Krasnodar, opened an exhibition of paintings by Aivazovsky, dedicated to the anniversary of the painter

KRASNODAR. Museum them. Kovalenko presented to the public a unique project, “200 Years of Triumph, dedicated to the bicentennial anniversary of Ivan Aivazovsky, an outstanding Russian marine painter. More than six thousand works left behind a master of seascapes.

The initiator of the project was the Rostov Regional Museum of Fine Arts, with the aim of using it to show a wide range of viewers the works of the famous marine painter, located in the collections of museums in the South of Russia. Museums in Rostov, Taganrog and Krasnodar became participants in the project.

The first project created on such a scale has become a socially significant event that draws attention to the personality of the artist. With the help of this project, every visitor to the museum will be able to see the originals of paintings belonging to the brush of Aivazovsky, get an idea of the magnitude of his talent.

The visitors will enjoy sea landscapes, where art lovers will see moonlit nights and magnificent sunsets, sea battles and calm seas on a foggy morning. The exhibition, which opened on November 17, features 14 paintings created by the famous painter.

The works selected for the exhibition belong to different periods of the artist’s work. Almost all the paintings glorify the sea, but one of them belongs to the portrait genre, rare for the artist’s work. This is a “portrait of A.P. Khalibyan,” painted in 1862.

The exhibition will be open a month until December 17th.
