Komissarzhevskaya Theater celebrated its 70th anniversary

Last night, theatergoers of St. Petersburg, together with the team of the Komissarzhevskaya Theater, celebrated a festive date - the famous Komissarzhevka celebrated its seventieth anniversary. The first performance of the theater troupe also played on October 18th, only it was distant, terrible for the city, then bearing the name Leningrad, the besieged 1942 year. In world history there was no case that at the height of the war, in a city surrounded by a dense ring of enemies, a theater was created.

The troupe included actors who did not leave the city, and the first performance of the theater was the drama Konstantin Simonov "Russian people". Then the repertoire was supplemented by performances in which military events were reflected - “Front” and “Invasion”. Performances went on intermittently with shelling, sometimes without light. The stage was illuminated by spectators with lanterns brought with them. None of the actors and spectators knew what to expect from tomorrow, but all the performances of the theater were played in the hall, where there were no empty seats.

For the anniversary, the troupe of the theater prepared a grandiose gift for the audience - a large-scale production, which included excerpts from the most significant performances for the theater, it remembered all the names, thanks to which the Komissarzhevskaya theater became the hallmark of the city. A retrospective of the performances was opened by the mise-en-scene from the play "Russian People", and then excerpts from the performances staged according to the trilogy of Alexei Tolstoy, which became the symbol of the whole theatrical era of St. Petersburg, followed.

Today the theater’s repertoire includes about two dozen performances, among which there are works by contemporaries and classics of the stage. The main criterion for choosing performances for staging is the principle - to teach the audience good.

The theater received congratulations from colleagues and from the city administration.
