Sverdlovsk Drama Theater marks the end of the season with the premiere of "Romeo and Juliet"

YEKATERINBURG. In honor of the closing season, the team of the Academic Drama Theater made a present to the theater public of Yekaterinburg - on June 26, the premiere of the famous Shakespeare tragedy took place. In the repertoire of the Sverdlovsk drama, the play “Romeo and Juliet” appeared in the stage reading of the young but experienced and well-known in the theater world director Vladimir Zolotar.

In his creative life, Vladimir Zolotar is known for his work as the main director of the Altai Drama Theater, the Nizhny Novgorod Youth Theater and the Perm Theater-Theater troupe. In many theaters in the country, Vladimir Zolotar worked as a guest director.

Among them are such famous St. Petersburg theaters as the Comedy Theater, Cosmopolitan Theater, and the Theater named after Lensoviet. The play "Romeo and Juliet" Vladimir Zolotar staged in collaboration with the set designer Oleg Golovko. They are not working in tandem for the first time, each time creating successful productions.

As the creators of the play admitted, they had absolutely no desire to make another stage copy of the famous Shakespearean play about young lovers. One of the main ideological ideas of the production was the desire to affect as much as possible the feelings of the modern youth audience.

To do this, it was necessary to find common ground between the world of Shakespearean heroes and the world of today’s teenagers. Since the story told in this classic tragedy could happen in any era, the director filled the play with modern music, and the appearance of the characters became like teenagers sitting in the auditorium.

However, the director was able to show the main difference between Shakespearean heroes and their contemporary peers - the early growth characteristic of that era, life. where both love and death are all present.
