King Lear appeared in the Ivanovo drama as directed by a director from Georgia

IVANOVO. The Regional Drama Theater for the 81st time invited spectators to the hall for the opening of the theater season. Artists of the Ivanovo Theater also celebrate the anniversary of the Great Shakespeare. The first performance presented to the audience was the famous King Lear, for the production of which director Zurab Sikharulidze, well-known to Georgian theater-goers, was invited to play in Ivanovo.

The director works in the Russian theater for the first time, but in his homeland, Zurab Sikharulidze has enormous experience. He staged plays based on plays belonging to classical drama - Russian and foreign authors, worked with Georgian and Turkish artists. In his creative luggage there are also plays by Shakespeare.

Now Sikharulidze holds the position of artistic director in the Azerbaijani drama, located in Tbilisi. Each of the connoisseurs of theatrical art knows that in Georgia there is a special attitude to the work of the great playwright. Therefore, Georgian directors often create interesting options for reading his plays.

Now the Ivanovo theater-goers also got the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the director representing the theatrical world of Georgia. "King Lear" is not accidentally chosen by the director for the production. The events taking place in this play are extremely relevant today. The values of the passing era do not coincide with those that are valued in the era of the impending, the connection between generations is lost, and family tragedy is intertwined with the world

At the opening ceremony of the season, which took place before the performance, Alexander Fomin, vice-governor of the region, spoke. He congratulated the troupe on the new season, in which it would be possible to work in a more comfortable environment - the stage was repaired in the theater and new equipment was installed.
