The performance staged for the anniversary of Oleg Tabakov, saw the first spectators

MOSCOW. Until the day when Oleg Tabakov, head of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov, will celebrate its 80th anniversary, six months remain. The birthday of the People’s Artist of the USSR will first be celebrated at home, as August 17 is during the holidays. For this reason, the anniversary evening in the theater is planned for autumn. However, Oleg Pavlovich has already begun to celebrate his anniversary, introducing the audience his new role.

The performance “Jubilee of the Jeweler”, staged by Konstantin Bogomolov specifically for Oleg Tabakov’s anniversary, was seen on March 4 by the first spectators. When the official premiere will take place - the creators of the play do not say yet. It is known that before the end of March pre-premieres will be held three more times. The next time the audience is expected on March 10th.

Tabakov himself speaks of the play, written by the playwright Nikola McAuliffe, that the play is difficult to attribute to the "anniversary". This is a dramatic melodrama, but the director managed to stage it in such a way that the audience sitting in the hall will not only have to wipe away the tears that are welling up, but also reflect on the events unfolding on the stage.

According to Bogomolov, if the play were not so high-quality, then they would not be engaged in staging it. The authors of the performance did not have a goal to create a duty benefit dedicated to the anniversary of the famous artist. This is an ordinary performance, in the creation of which all the forces and talents of the performers and the production team were invested.

According to the plot of the play, in which, together with Oleg Tabakov, Natalya Tenyakova (the wife of the protagonist) and Daria Moroz (nurse) play, an old jeweler dying of cancer, doctors take a month to live. However, he decides to live to see his anniversary, which is two months away - after all, he is waiting for a meeting with the queen. Is it true or fantasy - the main intrigue of the performance.
