Theater named after Vakhtangov brought four performances to St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG. On the last March evening, the St. Petersburg theater-goers had the opportunity to meet with the stars of the theater named after Vakhtangov. On the stage of the Alexandria Theater, the first of four performances taken by the capital’s artists on tour took place. It was a play by a modern playwright from France Gerald Sibleyras, “The Wind Noises in Poplars”, directed by Rimas Tuminas.

Several years ago, this play was marked by an award - the Laurence Olivier Prize in the nomination "Best Comedy". Remarkable artists are involved in the performance of Rimas Tuminas - M. Sukhanov, V. Simonov, V. Vdovichenkov. They are much younger than their characters - World War I veterans who live their lives in a nursing home.

However, the director believes that this discrepancy makes the play much more interesting. The skirmishes that sound on stage are filled with humor inherent only to the French - light and elegant. Therefore, this comedy captivates the audience from the very beginning of the action. The performance will be shown to the audience again. April 1st.

The next evening, the audience will see a magnificent Vasily Lanovoy playing in the play “Dedication to Eve”. Together with his partner, artist Yevgeny Knyazev, he will present to the public the story of two men whose hearts belong to one woman.

"Uncle’s Dream", staged fifteen years ago by director Vladimir Ivanov as a performance benefit of Vladimir Etush, has been going on all these years in the crowded theater hall. Together with Etush on stage, his brilliant partner is Maria Aronova. This wonderful performance will be shown on April 3rd.

The tour will end on April 4th with the performance “Masquerade”, performed on stage by Rimas Tuminas. The sad tragedy taking place in the winter in the space of the Summer Garden has already become a classic of the scene.
