Segey Puskepalis presented in the theater. Akimov’s new play by Alexey Slapovsky
ST. PETERSBURG. Last Saturday, the theater. Akimova introduced the premiere of Alexey Slapovsky’s play “The Dog”. In reading the famous director Sergei Puskepalis, the play was called "Where the Dog Is Buried." The new play of the popular playwright was first put on the stage.
For Sergei Puskepalis, this directorial work also became a kind of debut. It so happened that the director, whose productions are in the Youth Theater of Saratov, Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov, the metropolitan "Contemporary" and the Moscow Provincial Theater, presents his work in the theater of St. Petersburg for the first time.
The premiere was attended by playwright Alexey Slapovsky, the author of the play. Having written the play “Dog”, the playwright designated its genre as “Not a Comedy”. When it was embodied on the stage, the director completely agreed with the author, because the story, originally similar to a joke, gradually becomes a tragicomedy.
The author himself, after watching the play, called what he saw on stage the genre of "psychedelic cabaret." The action was so fascinated by the playwright that he even forgot to observe the reaction of the public, which was usual for him when watching performances of his works. According to Alexei Slapovsky, after this performance, the audience realized that the seriousness of the topic may not be an obstacle to such an unusual, expressive and temperamental conversation about it.
The topic touched upon by the author in the play is not discussed for the first time. Even in ordinary life you can often hear that many of the people "do not live their own lives." However, when trying to change something, questions arise before them: is this decision right, is it good to start life anew?
The characters of the performance, who met at the station first-aid post, reflect on the difficulties that arise in those who decide to make radical changes in their lives.
