The premiere of the new version of the play by Eugene Schwartz "Dragon" was held in the St. Petersburg Comedy Theater. Akimova

ST. PETERSBURG. In the repertoire of the comedy theater. Akimova reappeared "Dragon", a play based on the famous play written by Eugene Schwartz. The basis of this play was the plot of a tale from the folklore of Southeast Asia, which tells about the invincible dragon. The secret of his invulnerability is that the winner of the monster himself turns into an evil dragon.

Immediately after the playwright finished work on a terrible parable, the play was staged by Nikolai Akimov in a comedy theater. It was 1944, the theater at that time was in evacuation. The first shows of the play were held there, however, after the performance was presented to the audience on the stage of the capital’s theater of Satire, the production was banned.

At that time, the creation of a play on this play was an incredible courage of the director. This situation could have ended much worse for him. The story of the play continued with the return of The Dragon to the stage of the same theater in 1964. The story repeated itself. Despite the incredible success of the play, it was again closed soon.

Tatyana Kazakova, the artistic director of the Theater named after Tatarstan Akimova. This year two anniversary dates were celebrated at the theater - the birthdays of Nikolai Akimov and Yevgeny Schwartz.

However, Tatyana Kazakova emphasizes that the premiere of "Dragon" is not a performance "to date." This play, written more than half a century ago, is in tune with today, giving an answer to many painful questions, showing how great the temptation of power is. Recently, another Schwartz play has returned to the theater’s repertoire. The comedy "Shadow" was written by a playwright specifically for this theater.

In the role of the Dragon on the stage of the comedy theater, viewers saw the national artist of Russia Yuri Lazarev. Lancelot, a knight who is ready to save the city from the monster, is played by Denis Zaitsev.
