Nizhny Novgorod "Comedy" celebrated its anniversary with the premiere of "The Marriage of Figaro"

NIZHNY NOVGOROD. The Comedy Theater celebrated its seventieth anniversary on an unprecedented scale, combining the anniversary, Theater Day and the premiere of the magnificent performance “The Marriage of Figaro”. To work on the play, which lasted about 2, 5 months, the director Vadim Danziger assembled his own team.

Costume designer Andrey Klimov worked on the creation of costumes. If Vadim Danziger staged the second performance in Comedy, then Andrei Klimov, who designed more than a dozen productions in Nizhny, worked for the first time in this theater. With Danziger, he has already staged a lot of performances, so the artist and director understand each other perfectly.

According to Andrei Klimov, the idea of costumes was born for him as soon as he began to present the director’s plan. Costumes were created regardless of who they were intended for - the main characters, or actors of mass scenes. Therefore, the costumes turned out in all bright, rich colors.

During the performance, the scene looks like a carnival procession. Such is it made by characters dressed in incredible beauty Klimov’s costumes. All the actions of the performance take place against the backdrop of multifunctional large-scale scenery. The staging of the production belongs to Boris Shlyamin, a Nizhny Novgorod artist. The scenery is solid, as the characters in the play perform many jumps and tricks.

The light score of The Marriage of Figaro was invented by Sergey Skornitsky, also a Muscovite. It has been performed so beautifully that it can also be considered a “hero of the performance. The music written by the metropolitan composer Philip Chernov perfectly complemented the plot of the comedy.

The audience appreciated both the production and the acting work of Alexander Kalugin, who played absolutely non-classical Figaro. His partner was Tatyana Kiseleva, who played the role of romantic Suzanne.
