An exhibition "Artists of the Tver Region" from the collection of the regional art gallery is open in Tver

TVER. The regional art gallery is waiting for visitors who want to get acquainted with the work of artists for whom the Tver region has become a source of inspiration for creating talented works of art. Until November 1, the gallery will host an exhibition, the exhibition of which was created on the basis of a collection of works of different genres, performed by artists in the 16-20 centuries.

By its name - “Artists of the Tver Territory” it is obvious that the gallery’s staff set themselves the task of collecting works of art of various directions in the exhibition space, which make it possible to see the full picture of the development of the artistic life of the region over several centuries.

In total, the exhibition displays approximately two hundred exhibits representing iconography, paintings and graphic works. The exposition was decorated with colorful works by masters of the Klyuchinsky factory made of colored glass, as well as products from faience and porcelain.

The works of Tver icon painters, written in the 16-19th centuries, were famous throughout Russia. Many of the icons on display previously adorned the temples of the Tver land. Among them, you can see icons depicting Tver saints, painted by masters of icon painting in the 17-19 centuries, as well as wooden sculptures of the 19th century, made by Ostashkov carvers.

Ostashkovo for several centuries was one of the famous Russian art centers. Entire dynasties of artists lived there - Verziny and Kolokolnikovs. The exhibition includes unique portraits painted by representatives of these families. The name of A. Venetsianov, a famous Russian painter, is associated with the Tver region. The exhibition presents several works by masters, as well as artists whose names are well known to all lovers of painting - A. Kuindzhi, I. Brodsky.
