At the Musical Comedy Theater, the premiere of the operetta Ten Brides ...

ST. PETERSBURG. The musical comedy theater celebrated the last day of winter with the first premiere of 2014, presenting the audience the operetta “Ten brides….”, written one and a half centuries ago by Viennese conductor Franz von Zuppe. It was this composer who became the founder of the special style of the Viennese classical operetta, which includes the rhythms of the waltz and the melodies of urban folklore of the Austrian capital.

The plot of the operetta was taken from the ancient Greek myth “The Court of Paris”, but the author made the heroes of the myth his contemporaries. Anna Osipenko, the director of the premiere performance, considered that the content of the work remained relevant today, although more than a century has passed since the creation of the play.

The events of the play could take place today, so the heroes of the operetta, by the will of the directors, were transferred to our days. The father of ten daughters is desperate - for many years unsuccessfully trying to marry them, but they are still in a state of "marriageable women".

Years go by, the girls are gradually moving into the status of "aunts", and the grooms do not appear. The father decided to contact a marriage agency and brings his daughters to a photo studio to order their photos. This is his last hope - maybe there are grooms in other cities? After all, the age of the eldest potential bride is approaching fifty!

During a photo shoot, an amateur artist accidentally enters the studio, who turns out to be single. The struggle for his heart begins immediately. Each of the girls uses different tricks, trying to draw attention to his person. The wedding will take place, but who will become the bride, the audience will know only in the final of the play.

Before the performance, the audience could admire the collection of wedding dresses. This exhibition in the theater was prepared specially for the premiere.
