MOSCOW. In the theater to them. Mayakovsky hosted the second consecutive premiere of a work by a Russian classic. On April 10, a young talented director Nikita Kobelev presented his new work to the audience - the play “The Last,” based on a play written by Maxim Gorky. This is the sixth performance staged by Nikita Kobelev in the theater. Mayakovsky.

Gorky finished this play in 1908. It was immediately printed in a collection published by the Knowledge partnership, however, for censorship reasons, the play was published in abbreviation, and it was forbidden to stage in theaters. Spectators saw the play on it only after the revolution.

The director told me that Mindaugas Karbauskis, the artistic director of the theater, suggested that he put on this play. The idea aroused interest in Kobelev, especially since he had never had to work with classical drama. According to the director, all the problems raised by Gorky in a play written more than a century ago have remained relevant today. The staging of the play "The Last" gave the director the opportunity to comprehend the content of the play from a modern perspective.

Nikita Kobelev did not draw the attention of viewers to social problems, political conflicts. He decided to address the eternal problem of the continuity of generations, giving rise to conflicts between fathers and children. Before the premiere, the director said that the play he directed was a story telling about the impact on the fate of children of the problems and mistakes made by their parents.

I completely agree with the opinion of the director and actress Galina Belyaeva, the performer of the role of Sophia, the mother of the family. She believes that the formation of a person is influenced by relations in his family. Each of the spectators who watched the performance will be able to see in it the problems that exist at his home.
